For the procession of Corpus Domini (also called Corpus Christi), held on the Sunday nine weeks after Easter (June 10 in 2012), many Italian towns and churches create art works made of flower petals. Some are simply a flower petal design in front of a church but some towns hold an Infiorata covering the paths for the procession with elaborate flower petal carpets. These beautiful tapestries take days of planning and many hours to create.
Three years ago we went to the infiorata of Brugnato, a small town in Liguria near Cinque Terre, and watched the creation of these carpets. Take a look at this fascinating experience with these Infiorata photos and video.
