You're planning a summer getaway and keen to book a villa for rent in Fuerteventura, but where exactly should you stay? With so many popular resorts on the Canary Island, choosing where to base yourself can seem like an insurmountable challenge.
If you have been wondering where the best place is to hire a Canaries villa rental, there are three resorts that are particularly worthy of attention, and each has its own draws. As a result, whatever you are hoping to get from your break - be it a chance to relax, top up your tan, play golf or go diving - you'll discover the perfect spot for you.
Read on to find out more about three of our favourite resorts.
Caleta de Fuste
This is one of the most popular resorts on the island, so if you want to experience the bustling atmosphere of being surrounded by countless other holidaymakers on your break, this is the place to come. By booking a private villa for rent, you won't have to travel far to reach the shops and stock up on ingredients to rustle up a delicious meal at your holiday home. Alternatively, you could take advantage of the myriad of bars, cafes and restaurants to visit.
As well as a wealth of amenities, there's also plenty to do while you're in the resort. Beach sports are a particularly popular option and you can visit the expansive manmade stretch of sand to have a go at windsurfing or scuba diving. Sailing is another fun pursuit and by booking a tour out on the ocean you have the chance of spotting a dolphin or turtle, as the creatures reside in these warm waters. If you prefer to stay on dry land, check out the championship golf course, which is located close to the town.
Corralejo
This is another of Fuerteventura's most popular holiday resorts and here you can do everything from relax among the famous sand dunes to wander around the Old Town. The dunes have been designated a nature reserve and you are certain to marvel at their beauty, just as you are at the sight of the deep blue waters that lap at the beaches.
There is a small stretch of sand near the town you can spend time at, or you have the option of travelling a little further out to where there are a couple of larger beaches that will not be as crowded. When the sun is at its hottest, head to the town to get a bite to eat, or take a stroll around the harbour where people can often be found fishing from the top of the stone wall.
Lajares
This little village has a more peaceful atmosphere than the two earlier resorts, so if you want a relaxed getaway this is the place for you. However, don't let its size fool you into thinking there is nothing to see and do here.
Among the most popular attractions is the Artisania Lajares, where you can watch lace being made by hand. Pick up some crafts made from the delicate material to give to friends back home as a gift, or to keep as a reminder of your stay.
The two windmills here are also worth a look. Known as Molina and Molino, they make for a great photo opportunity. When evening falls, treat yourself to dinner at one of the restaurants before making your way back to your villa.
