The Price of the All-Inclusive Resort

More and more, all-inclusive resorts are starting to appear everywhere. They seem to be very popular now and a good deal as well, and many times they are. Among the first to start this trend was Club Mediterranee, Club Med, and they are still around and doing well.

It certainly is appealing for the budget minded vacationer to know in advance how much will be the cost of spending some time in an All-inclusive resort. And this cost can be known to a very close approximation if not to an exact amount. One can lie on a beach or by a pool, have a drink, eat, etc. and not worry about how much one is spending.

On the other hand if one wants to be a true tourist, one must be willing to adventure out of the hotel and explore the surroundings, which in my view is the purpose of it all. I just love the feeling of arriving in a city, having spent the night travelling and getting there early in the morning, if possible, arriving at a train station, and walking out and mingling with the locals going about the start of their day. The feeling is not quite the same if one arrives at an airport, as they for the most part the same, and are rarely in the middle of the city and if they are I cannot think of one where one can just walk out and start walking down the street. There are always taxis, buses, and other forms of transportation, unlike a train station which are surrounded by regular streets, with people, cars, etc.

But if one just wants to able to relax and enjoy doing nothing and just laying around a pool, reading, listening to music, sunbathing, etc. an All-inclusive hotel is certainly a very good option. The price one pays for that is that it is very tempting to stay rather than go out, to eat at the hotel rather than at local restaurant and participate of the evening entertainment offered in-house rather than going to a disco or a local bar. I have known people who have remained their whole stay inside the hotel and then talk to others, with the authority of having been there, about the good and bad things one can find in such and such destination and how it compares to others.

How can one be able to advance an opinion about a place one doesn't really know? How can one distinguish between All-inclusives located in different resort areas, in different countries if one has not ventured outside the premises, except maybe for an activity or two? And what is the difference, really, between laying around the pool in the Caribbean and any other place in the world?

There are places meant to be visited... I can't imagine staying in an All-inclusive in Paris, or New York, for example, and I don't believe there are any in either city, certainly not with a pool and amenities meant to keep you inside. I have trouble to think of places where one doesn't want to go outside. When we wanted to get away, we used to go to a hotel on the beach a short drive from home, to spend a weekend and relax, but it never occurred to me to take a plane to stay in resort and get away from it all in that manner. Until I discovered cruising. Cruising is such a great alternative to an All-inclusive. They both offer a similar service if you want to get away and not really tour, but just rest and relax.

An All-inclusive is a very good alternative when the weather is cold at home and you need some rest. And it should also be mentioned that there are different types of All-inclusives, some more expensive than others, even in the same destinations. One reason for this is the quality of the food, drinks and activities included, so it is a good idea to ask otherwise you might find yourself paying extra for a better quality drink or having to eat out when it wasn't what you had in mind. Another reason for the different in price is the location as some are closer to the center of attractions (outside the resort) so here again it is a good idea to find out the exact location and cost of taxis and transportation if you do plan to do some limited outings.

So, in short, before going anywhere please ask yourself... what am I in the mood for... total R&R, how much can I spend, etc. but just be aware that the price one pays for an All-inclusive is to lose the opportunity to explore new surroundings, know different people and places, and restaurants and views and photographic opportunities, and just adventure. I'm not demeaning All-inclusive hotels but if you can afford to spend your vacation differently, do it. If you can't, then enjoy as much as you can and go out as much as you can. After all life is just one /trade-off after another.

Four Top Northern Lights Tips

If you've been looking at holidays based around the Aurora Borealis then the chances are you've already worked out the best time and place to see the northern lights. This article takes a look at a few of the areas you might not have considered, giving you some tips to make the experience as good as possible.

Plan other activities

Yes we know you're there to see the Northern lights but like many other things in life there's no guarantees. The best approach to this is to book other trips around seeing the lights, to keep you entertained if the worst happens and the lights are a no show. The Arctic Circle offers up a number of great activities, including reindeer and dog sledding, snow mobile rides and snow shoe treks, something for everyone. Many of the activities also allow you to see the Northern Lights at the same time, so you get the best of both worlds!

Be prepared for late nights

It might be an obvious one but you'd be surprised how many people don't factor it in, the best time to see the Northern Lights is at night when it is dark. If you're a family with young children then you might struggle to stay up late enough to see them, that or you'll need to arrange childcare. This does vary throughout the year however, with the longer nights in the winter meaning you're able to see the lights earlier.

Get an experienced guide

Finding a good guide, either locally or through the tour company you're using, is the next top tip. Guides will know the local area and have kept an eye on the weather, boosting your chances of seeing the lights significantly and adding an extra layer of local knowledge. For those travelling in the winter, guides also make travelling in snowy conditions much safer by pointing out possible dangers, so for a family they're a must.

Consider the temperature

Our final tip is another one that's often overlooked, pack plenty of warm clothing. Staying in the Arctic Circle means cold nights, an average of -4°C in January, so you'll want to wrap up. It's also worth dressing appropriately depending on the level of activity; if you're out on a trek to see the lights then you want to concentrate on having many layers, if you're standing around waiting, you'll want a thick fleecy type material.

La Tomatina, Spain's Tomato Throwing Festival and Largest Food Fight on the Planet

"We came, we saw, we Tomatina'd!"

Bunol, Spain. Sultry Mediterranean climate, delectable cuisine, sweet sangria and home of the largest food fight on the planet. The edible ammunition of choice... tomatoes!

Whether the initial volley was aimed at crooked city officials or the disorderly act of town hooligans, townspeople caught in the crossfire enjoyed the festivities so much, it has been celebrated every year since 1945.

Held on the last Wednesday of August, the now internationally acclaimed celebration, La Tomatina, draws thousands of Spanish and international tourists alike for what promises to be the fight of their lives!

With Sangria in hand and sporting the latest fashions in tomato-fighting apparel, a crisp, white tank top and sassy pair of red-rimmed goggles, I arrived to Bunol ready for war! The battlefield: one long, narrow cobbled street. The goal: get as dirty as possible.

Immediately swept into the flow of human traffic, finding the festival was the least of my posse's concerns. Staying together was. Wrapping arms and linking hands, we boldly sliced into the mounting mob of people. Ducking, weaving and squeezing through whatever small openings inadvertently afforded, "Team Tom" surged forward. Pressing through the crowd's outer layer, our inward assault soon met a more severe resistance. An impenetrable wall of bodies constructed of just as eager and determined participants.

It was then that the life and energy of La Tomatina washed over me. Well, that and a dozen or so buckets of water raining down from above. Gleefully hanging out their apartment windows overhead, mischievous children, geriatric enthusiasts and my personal favorite, Spanish cougars sporting their most revealing bikinis, all joined in the colossal hydration effort. Chanting in unison, "Agua, Agua," the sweltering crowd below summoned lofty locals from their perches, rewarded with buckets of liquid salvation.

Lunging toward the glistening cascades, water had never seemed so vital. SPLASH! Hydrating parched lips, cooling sweaty skin and preventing more than a few heat-induced surrenders, the refreshing showers continued to revitalize our tomato-fighting spirits!

Akin to an hourglass of sand, the crowd was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Just as one granule shifted or fell through, another would replace it. Wedged between amorous Spanish men, macho Americans, brave Japanese and crazed Aussies, I could hardly breathe without losing precious inhalation space to an elbow, chest or face.

BOOM - a cannon rang out and the crowd erupted. Someone must have retrieved the famed ham bone from atop the greased pole, the traditional start to the festival. Let the fight begin!

A few lone kamikaze-style tomatoes flew through the air, further stirring the crowd, but it wasn't until the first lorrie came into sight that the real excitement kicked in.

Hogging over half the narrow street, the first lorrie grinded its way through the crowd. As it parted the red sea in a most assertive manner ("honk, honk!"), mid-street inhabitants tried desperately to squeeze into the crowd's perimeter, while those already on the edges crunched dangerously closer to admit them. But the plain laws of physics won out. There was simply not enough room. Literally pushed out the back of the festival, many pour souls who fought valiantly to maintain their forward positions watched their red-laced dreams disappear into the grill of a big, blaring lorrie.

Plastered against the wall of people, I just barely secured a spot on the perimeter when the lorrie came rumbling by. Passing inches in front of my terrified face, if the mob would have surged forward in those perilous moments, tomatoes would not have been the only street salsa produced.

Suddenly, the lorrie stopped. A rickety steel door slid open and a wall of tomatoes spewed forth! Almost knocked off my feet, I was knee deep in tomatoes. No step was solid anymore - my every move dictated by the sliding salsa below. There was only one thing left to do... "Fight!"

Bending over to grab handfuls of the lorrie's prized cargo, I slung tomatoes like my life depended on it. Led by their fleshy red shells and trailed by the hued reds of their innards, tomatoes flew through the sky like stray comets. Providing the first line of defense, my goggles protected my eyes from the initial onslaught, but even they could not avoid the red curtain.

The crowd no longer had the purpose of moving forward; it gyrated every which way. At times lifted off my feet and onto the person in front of me, I gave into the pressure and, quite literally, went with the flow.

A second "BOOM" rang out, and the final lorrie turned out of sight. Eleven lorries, 40,000 participants, one metric ton of tomatoes, and an hour later the fight was officially finished but unofficially still open.

Some left the festival as they had arrived, excited and energized, while others departed looking worse for wear. But all participants shared one glorious characteristic - the look of triumph!

As fast as the festival washed over, it was washed away. Opening throttle on their high-pressure hoses, firemen began to cleanse the streets while local residents offered garden hose showers. But we weren't done yet!

An undulation in the cobblestone road, creating a deep tomato pool, proved irresistible. Splashing in face first, tomato puree kicked up all around. Blissfully unaware of the sludge's true content, I flopped around like a maniac. It wasn't until I stopped to smell the roses that my upchuck reflex kicked in. The smell of vomit, urine and who knows what other bodily secretions filled my nose. We weren't just swimming in tomatoes, we were swimming in humanity!

After one smashing good time, we not only survived the largest food fight on the planet, we emerged with flying colors!

Stress-Free Travel With Young Children

Traveling can be a lot of fun, but when you throw a kid or two into the mix, it can get a little crazy. Travel with children can actually be a lot of fun with some careful planning. Do you want to learn how you can travel with children and survive? The following article offers some great suggestions of things you can do to make travel with children a fun experience.

Before choosing a destination, take some time to consider what kind of trips are actually conducive to family travel. You do not want to land in a place that is famous for nightlife when you have children under the age of 18 in tow. You will likely spend most of your time in a noisy hotel hearing other people enjoy nightlife while you watch cartoons in the hotel room. Choose places that have fun activities for all ages, including ones that your children may not know they will enjoy, such as historical sites or museums. Plan time for kids' attractions such as theme parks, but do not limit your entire vacation to commercial enterprises such as this. Schedule time for picnics and nature hikes, in which you will have time to interact with your children in a new way, away from their friends and other daily chores.

If you are traveling by air, there are things to keep in mind for children. Prepare them ahead of time for things such as airport security lines and the need to use bathroom facilities when they are readily available. Always pack snacks and meals that you know they will enjoy. You do not want hungry children who are cranky and unsatisfied. Remember that air travel is new to them, and they will probably have either anxiety or excitement that will cause them to overreact to circumstances. Have patience and bring along games and books to keep them occupied.

Being cooped up in a small hotel room with the whole family can be challenging in and of itself. Close quarters can fray tempers and this is normal. There are some things you can do ahead of time to alleviate some of these problems. Call your hotel and ask if family rooms are available, with separate sleeping rooms, and specifically request them. Get it in writing via email, rather than just relying on whoever happens to be at the front desk when you check in. Ask for refrigerators and microwaves, so that you can have simple meals in the room, avoiding the need to keep restless kids happy in too many restaurants. This will also save you a lot of money. Many hotels have these things available on a limited basis, so ask for them ahead of time. Consider renting condos, as well, as this will give you full kitchens, living rooms and separate sitting areas.

When packing for your journey, remember to bring things like sunscreen and light jackets, even in the summer months. Air conditioning and ocean breezes can create chilly evenings, regardless of where you are going. Always take along comfortable shoes, for your kids and for yourself. You will likely be doing much more walking that usual and you will find it more enjoyable if you are all comfortable. Bring electronic games or books to keep kids engaged while waiting in long lines.

Don't leave the kids behind, but plan carefully in order to create a family vacation that will be a part of their childhood memories for the rest of their lives. Implement some of the ideas here to have a carefully planned journey with a lot of fun and togetherness thrown in.

Involve your kids in the whole procedure. They can help you buy air tickets
And ask them what they think about various aspects of the trip, and be aware of their side of the story when it comes to travel.

Airport Transportation: Getting Everyone to the Plane

When many people think of airport transportation, they center on renting a car to take them to their hotel once at their strange new destination. It is just as important to figure out how you're going to get there in the first place. If you don't want to pay to park your car in the long-term lot, you'll need a way to get to the terminal. There are a number of options, some of which are employed by the terminal. You'll need reliability, plenty of time, and something that is cost efficient. Other than that, you may want a bit of style thrown in. Here are some tips for a smooth ride.

Booking a Shuttle

If you live close by, the terminal itself may provide some level of airport transportation. Check with both them and the airline you're flying to see if there's anything they can do to help you out. If not, try looking for private shuttle services that handle this kind of business in your town. You may be surprised at what you find. Some companies are busy enough to make multiple trips to the terminal each day. You'll find good rates and may even be able to improve on those if you agree to ride with others. This can be a relatively inexpensive way to travel and you can be sure you're in good hands.

Carpool

If you often travel by plane, it makes sense to develop a systematic plan of airport transportation. This may involve doubling up with a co-worker or neighbor. If you take turns driving each other to the terminal or even both go in the same car for the same trip, you can save a bundle on gas and parking fees. Of course, this only works if there is some compromise and dependability. Don't set up a plan with a flake who isn't likely to come through for you when you need them. As long as you are both dependable and serious, however, it can be a great way to travel.

Taxi

If you live in a larger city, there's no reason you can't book a taxi for your airport transportation. It won't be the cheapest or the most comfortable ride you ever took, but it will get the job done. A good idea is to book your ride well in advance, however. If you wait until the morning of the trip to call the company, you may find yourself out of luck. The closer you are to a major holiday, the better the chances of this unfortunate situation playing out. The same holds true of a shuttle service. Book early and you won't have to worry about being left by the curb.

The best Cincinnati airport transportation shows up on time and gets going fast. For a reliable ride, call up http://www.americanshuttlecompany.net/.

Visiting Isla Mujeres for the Weekend

Isla Mujeres (Isla) is by far one of Allan and my favorite spots to escape Playa del Carmen for a short weekend trip. Besides having one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen, Isla posses this wonderful island charm that is hard to come by. After having spent the past weekend exploring the island for the first time, both Allan and I are positive we'll be coming back again this summer.

Isla is only a 20 minute luxury, high speed ferry ride off the coast of Cancun at Puerto Juarez and only costs roughly $15 USD round trip per person. The ferries leave every half hour during the day providing a lot of flexibility for Allan and I, who tend to try to cramp a lot into one day are are usually running late for something.

Once in Isla the four of us crammed into a small taxi cab with luggage and within 4 minutes we had arrived at Cabanas del Maria del Mar on the north coast of the island. Isla is only about 5 miles long and 1 mile wide, which make tranversing the island very easy. Most people travel by golf cart!

The cabanas provided a no frills, comfortable option at an unbeatable price (roughly $40 USD for a double room per night). The price is usually twice that but since we asked for a locals' discount we were able to secure the discount. The hotel sits right on the beach and includes a small pool and free continental breakfast. The rooms are nothing special but given the price and location, we will definitely be booking again!

Our arrival in Isla was greeted with heavy downpours and amazing thunderstorms which provided a wonderful light show. The weather did not deter us from veturing out for a stroll and some dinner. Low season (May - October) is a perfect time to visit since no one is around. For dinner we enjoyed some Asian cuisine and great people watching. The restaurant was located on what I call restaurant alley. The street is charming yet a bit cramped with a myriad of ethnic restaurants from Argentian and Italian. Between the outdoor dining, the pedestrians and the restaurant employees eagerly trying to solicit our business, I would think the street in high season would become quite crowded.

Back at the hotel that evening Allan and I took a dip in the pool which was literally like bath water. I guess there is something as a pool being too hot. However, it was so refreshing enough and helped us to relax and sleep through the night.

We woke up next morning to a picture perfect day. The water was this amazingly light colored blue that has to be one of the most beautiful beach sites I have ever seen. We ate our free breakfast of toast, coffee and juice under a thatched roof over looking the water, listening to classical music. What a way to start the day!

We decided to rent 2 golf carts for roughly $30 USD each from 9am to 5pm and used these to get around the island. One cart could have sufficed for the 4 of us but that would have meant 2 of us would be sitting on the back facing backward.

Carting around the island was the ideal way to get around. There are not a lot of cars and you really feel like you are on a Caribbean island. Isla is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous beaches and it seems people really care for their homes and shops. Storefronts are well maintained and painted in bright Caribbean colors like light blue and yellow. Parks are well groomed and you don't see much poverty or rift raft.

Our first stop for the day was at a turtle farm where they breed and raise fresh water and sea turtles. It was a great way to see the turtles up close and even observe other sea creatures in tanks like sea horses and octopuses. You can pick up rays, fresh water turtles and conch, but not the sea turtles. Then in the ocean in a decent sized enclosure was a nurse shark. I'd say our local guide was one of the highlights as he let us break a few rules which I won't discuss here, and he added a lot of smiles and charm, always ready to help us or answer any questions (in Spanish).

After the turtle farm we went to visit the home of a very eccentric guy who built his home all from recycled materials. The base the home floats on is made from plastic bottles. His home was originally in Puerto Aventuras, but it was destroyed in a storm, so he rebuilt in Isla. We observed his make shift residence from the shore as it appeared he was not home. We actually don't know the owner, nor have every met him and as he was not expecting us, I am not entirely surprised he was out.

For lunch that day we enjoyed an incredible meal at Pita Amore. The menu is small and really only consists of pitas stuffed with meat like chicken or turkey and vegetables. However, the food is so delicious, it's not only highly rated on Trip Advisor, it's also been visited by celebrity Chef Jacques Pepin and is also now one of our favorite lunch spots in all of the Rivera Maya. The inside of the restaurant is a bit rustic, but the food is so good it doesn't matter.

After lunch we spent some time on the beach outside our hotel, as yachts moored not too far off shore. The water was a warm 85 degrees and you could wade out hundreds of feet on the soft sand. It was one of those days and places where we began to think how lucky we were to be living in such a beautiful spot. We reflected back on our lives and what brought us to this point in our lives. We contemplated our friends and family who were all mostly back in cold climates not enjoying the warm waters of the Caribbean. And it wasn't like this was just a rare vacation for us - we live only about an hour away, and Playa del Carmen is arguably just as nice.

Dinner that evening was scrumptious Mediterranean food at Olivias which consisted of pita, kebabs, salad and moussaka. Olivias is also well rated on Trip Advisor. Without a doubt we'll be returning for dinner on our next trip this summer.

The following day was cloudy, but that did not prevent Scot and Allan from partaking in a small snorkeling adventure in a small inlet within walking distance of our cabanas at the Avalon Reef Club. From what I hear the variety and quantity of fish marvel that of Puerto Morelos. Scot and Allan think the hotel must feed the fish to keep so many in such a small area.

After snorkeling it was time to leave the wonderful island. Allan and I were already mentally planning another trip back before even departing. Isla Mujeres is just so charming and beautiful. We expect to return over and over!

Essential Items for Whale Watching

Going out on a whale watching cruise, seeing whales at play in their natural habitat, namely the ocean, requires planning of what to take along for your trip. Firstly, if you are a person prone to seasickness, make sure that you have pills with you to combat any queasiness. You do not want to spoil your outing on the sea, or that of others with you, who do not suffer the same way.

Basics not to be forgotten

HatSunglassesSunscreen, essential both in winter and summerCamera plus extra batteriesBinocularsPlastic water bottleSnacks for nibbling or prepacked lunch if none aboard

It is always a good idea wearing flat shoes on board a boat; preferably sneakers or tennis shoes with rubber soles. Decks often become slippery, the sea may become choppy, and the rubber gives you grip when you move about.

Essential Clothing

Take along a waterproof jacket or a windbreaker for protection against the spray, and a thick jersey. You can always take them off if it gets hot, but if you do not have them with you and the weather turns cold, you will freeze and feel most miserable. On the sea, the weather is prone to do instant turnabout, hot to cold, or vice-versa.

In other words, no matter how blue the sky is when you wake in the morning, you never can accurately forecast the weather for the rest of the day on the sea.

Taking along a rug, is not essential, but a good idea, the same with gloves, especially in winter. Take hats with a brim in preference to a cap. It gives better protection for ears and the back of the neck, which have a tendency to quickly become burnt, both winter and summer on the sea.

You can always go inside if there is an inside cabin on the boat, but it is not the same as watching whales from the deck, and really, this is what whale watching tours are all about.

Extras for children

Take a colouring-in book and crayons, or reading books for children until whales are sighted. They do need the extra occupation, otherwise boredom sets in and this has the potential of irritation for other adults on board. Some cool drinks, sandwiches and biscuits are also a good idea for keeping them happy. Take the time to educate your children about why whale watching tours are more than just a nice day out on the ocean, and if old enough, make sure they listen to the guide.

Going to Thailand All Year Long, Alone or With Family, From North to South, Just a Dream Vacation!

Thailand is a country beautiful during all the seasons although in some periods it is not advisable to go to certain areas because of the arrival of the monsoon season. In November, in Thailand the high season begins. The climate is generally mild. The higher temperature is recorded in the month of April because of Thai New Year (The Songran). In Thailand, the rainiest months are May and October.

For these months there is an alternative solution to the sea: Koh Samet. Koh Samet is indeed the only island in Thailand that is almost never subjected to rains. Koh Samet is a few hours by bus (or car) and Katamarano from Bangkok and it is an island that offers good facilities and a beautiful beach but at higher prices compared to the rest of Thailand.

Koh Samet is mostly visited by the Thais living in Bangkok and it is ideal if you go there to spend the weekend. May and October are usually rainy months in Thailand but they may be ideal for exploring the natural beauty of tropical forests and the falls in these months are in full flow (Erawan waterfalls, waterfalls in the north and the centre of Thailand, waterfalls in the Khao Sok National Park).

Do you want to make a holiday with your kids and you wonder whether it is appropriate to do so? Or would you simply have information about your holiday in Thailand with your kids? Here are some useful information. Thailand is a very peaceful country and in terms of security it is far less dangerous than other countries where there are areas particularly isolated in the evenings and that would be better not to cross (e.g. stations in large cities, dangerous neighbourhoods, etc.). There is no such phenomenon in Thailand.

For both adults and children it does not ever happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you wish to travel to Thailand with your kids you can spend your holiday in a city like Bangkok, where your kids can have fun in large structures such as Dream World (a huge amusement park similar to Disneyland) or more simply visit the magnificent temples or the shopping centres with them: large structures that will undoubtedly capture their attention.

Even with regard to the seaside holidays, the children will be surely delighted to visit beautiful places like the island of Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Lanta, Phi Islands and many other beautiful places where they can make new friends at the resort or hotel or on the beach where you will find friends of their age!

Choose your Thailand Villa. A great idea could be renting a Koh Samui villa with pool. Your children will love it!

Things to Remember Before Going on Vacations

Vacations are always fun and memorable. It would be a lot better if there were nothing that was forgotten or left behind to mar it. The following are some reminders before setting out to go on a long, relaxing trip.

Utilities

Since vacations usually mean longer than a week and could encompass several weeks, it is best to give a heads up to the utilities company that the owners of the house will be out for a long duration of time. The owners may not need to have their electric and water cut but the warning will give the utilities company something to look out for if there is a spike in the usage for the duration. This is something important to look out for because unscrupulous individuals may have found out that the owner is on a long trip and might be using the domicile for nefarious doings. Cable and Internet accounts might also need to be forewarned before vacations because these have the capacity to actually cut the account for a specific period of time compared to water and electricity. The downside to the forewarning is that it may actually be people from the utility company that may enter the domicile and take advantage of the fact the owners are out. The warning to the utility company need not be so specific as to give details about where the owners will be going as well as the specific time and date of their departure and arrival. For rentals, giving notice to the landlord should be a priority so he can make sure that everything is aboveboard and in good working order. He can also take care of the mails that come and arrange for payments for bills and other utilities.

Safety

Allowing reliable neighbors know of the trip and if there will be some visitors who will be visiting while the owners are away should also ensure the safety of the house or apartment. Some homeowners invite their relatives and friends to stay over on vacations in order to make their dwellings look like it is still occupied. This will make observers think that the owners are there and the house is occupied. Another precaution that can be taken is to leave a spare key with a reliable neighbor, friend or relative for them to visit the dwelling every now and then. This will ensure that if there are break ins they can be noticed right away. If there is an alarm system for the dwelling, the neighbors should be privy to this because they can turn it off if it has been turned on accidentally. Alarms can be annoying if left unattended and may warrant a call to the police department if this disturbs the neighbors. Visitors should also be told of the rules of the compound or neighborhood with regards to noise and other disturbances. Some neighborhoods are pretty strict when it comes to disturbances.

While vacations are supposed to be carefree, the freedom should start by being responsible enough to make arrangements.

Airport Shuttles: Why Hire Them?

It is true that some places only have limited transportation means. This usually happens to small towns or island places that are actually tourist spots that receive lots of visitors all year long. This makes finding transportation in these places troublesome particularly to tourists and visitors of the place. However, there are a few of these types of places that have lots of airport transfer companies that have airport shuttles for hire for visitors and tourists. These places are very lucky to have these companies as people will not experience difficulties in hiring vehicles as their service in roaming around the place. So, what makes hiring airport shuttles very important especially for those who travel much? Here are some reasons.

Convenience - travelers who travel via plane will not be able to bring their cars along. If they hire these shuttles, they will have a sure vehicle to ride once they land at the airport especially if they have pre-booked with the airport transfer company. These shuttles can be able to pick them up from the airport and take them to the hotel or where they are bound to go. The travelers will not have to worry about their transportation once they land on the place where they are about to go.

Comfort - people can comfortably take their trip without worrying about running out of vehicles to hire. They can roam around the place in a good ride. Usually, these companies offer the best types of vehicles to hire. People will surely be comfortable in their trip especially with high quality and conditioned vehicles that these companies have.

Time and effort savers - people will not have to waste time finding a vehicle to hire once they land at the airport especially if they have booked with a company beforehand. The vehicle will be waiting for their arrival at the airport. This will give them faster time in getting to the hotel or to their first destination after landing at the place where they are going to.

Money saver - this can also help one save money as they will just be paying a single amount for the entire trip. Instead of hiring several cabs especially when they need to move from one place to another, they can simply hire the airport shuttle service for their entire trip. They can wander around using one vehicle with one charge only. This can be more economical and will help them save money that they can still use for other things for their trip.

Different places have many shuttle services available these days. Brisbane airport shuttles companies are just a few that people can hire especially when they will be roaming around Australia. Other places will also have services that they can take advantage of from these airport transfer companies. You may have to check on the place that you will be going to on the different companies that you may consider hiring.

A Few Great Reasons to Visit Jordan

If you're looking for less traditional family activity holidays then you may have come across trips to Jordan already and if you haven't considered it, you should. Jordan holidays offer up the chance to visit one of the world's most interesting countries, packed full of ancient history, fascinating culture and breath-taking natural wonders. This article takes a look at a just few of the great reasons to visit this beautiful country.

The Dead Sea

Probably the region's most famous natural feature, the Dead Sea has drawn visitors for thousands of years. The sea is touted as having healing properties, its waters rich with minerals and salts. The salt levels in the Dead Sea are almost ten times higher than regular sea water leading to its second fascinating property, the increased levels of buoyancy. The sea is also one of the lowest geographical places on the planet, baring those underwater of course, with an elevation of 400 meters below sea level.

Wadi Rum

Often seen as a more 'interactive' version of the Grand Canyon in the United States, the spectacular Wadi Rum Canyon is a great destination to head to for a dose of outdoor activities and stunning scenery. The Wadi Rum is famed for its excellent rock climbing and hiking, with thousands heading here every year to explore its challenging terrain. If that all sounds like a little much, there are other great ways to explore the beautiful scenery; from 4x4 tours to camel rides, there really is a way for everyone to get the most out of the Wadi Rum.

Petra

A trip to Jordan wouldn't be complete without a stop at one of the region's most famous ancient sites, the stunning city of Petra. Petra is known world wide for its impressively preserved ancient buildings, it's listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, many of which date back over 2,000 years. The settlement was originally populated by the Nabataeans people of northern Jordan and was well known as a centre of refined culture and architecture. The site today has numerous tombs and buildings to explore, many of which are carved into the surrounding cliffs.

This is obviously just a small taste of all that this stunning ancient land has to offer, there really is so much more to discover in Jordan. So next time you're looking for a great adventure holiday with a historic twist, why not take a look at Jordan?

Ideas For a Summer Holiday in the Netherlands

The Netherlands can and should be enjoyed all year round. It's a country that never sleeps with festivals and celebrations taking place at very short intervals. But arguably some of the best events on the cultural agenda happen during the summer months. It's also the time of year when the weather is at its most enjoyable. No excuses not to rent a bike and discover the country on two wheels like most locals do!

Places to Enjoy the Dutch Summer

An obvious choice during the summer months is to hit the beach. Fortunately, the Netherlands are home to a range of lovely seaside resorts perfectly suited for a fun day out. One of the most-loved towns is Scheveningen that offers visitors the chance to saunter along its 984ft pier, and explore numerous entertainment pavilions. Other resorts to look out for are Zandvoort, Katwijk, and Den Helder.

If you're a fan of heights, pay a visit to the tallest lighthouse in Europe, situated in Huisduinen, and boasting sprawling views across the local nature reserve.

City lovers should discover Maastricht, a vibrant student town that is big enough to provide entertainment yet small enough for you to be able to avoid the hot and bothered crowds you'd find elsewhere.

Events in the Netherlands

From April through to October the Netherlands is host to the Floriade World Horticulture Fair, a paradise for gardeners from around the globe. The exhibition is so big it only takes place every ten years! More than two million visitors are expected to attend the fair held in the region of Venlo in North Limburg, easily accessible from the international airports in Eindhoven, Maastricht, Dusseldorf and Koln.

The festival is more than just a showcase of what's new in the world of horticulture. It's a fun event for the whole family with a jampacked cultural programme of concerts, plays, parades and other shenanigans.

Host region North Limburg is known for its asparagus, mushrooms, beer and flans so those are things any visitor should aim to savour.

The Uitmarkt at the end of August every year rings in the start of the national cultural season. It is as such one of the largest cultural festivals in the Netherlands, and well worth a visit. Theatres, museums and other venues across Amsterdam play host to spectacular performances featuring established and upcoming stars. Children haven't been forgotten by the organisers who've made sure the city's famous Vondelpark is home to Uitmarkt Junior with child-friendly films, plays and workshops.

In July Rotterdam is home to the North Sea Jazz Festival attracting world-renowned performers like Rufus Wainwright, Lenny Kravitz, Van Morrison and Rumer. Concerts are scheduled to take place at large and small venues throughout town with the occasional pop-up show as well so all of the 1300 artists get to show off what they've got. When in town, have some fresh seafood. The city is Europe's largest port after all.

One of the best features of the Netherlands is its compact size letting visitors stay in a hotel in Amsterdam one night, and be in a different part of the country in just a few hours the next day. The local railway system is fast, comfortable and air-conditioned. You could even look into taking day trips to bordering Belgium and Germany.

Harvey McEwan writes to offer information and advice on a variety of areas, from what hotel in Amsterdam to choose, to what to wear to a festival. View Harvey's other articles to find out more.

Vacation Spots for the Family

When choosing vacation spots, there are several factors that need to be taken into consideration. These factors should always be considered because they can spell enjoyment or dissatisfaction during the trip. One of the most important things to take into consideration when thinking of going on a trip with the family is the age group of the members who will be travelling. It is best for a mostly teen oriented age group to go on a trip that is adventurous for their age. Water sports, the beach and fun night outs may be several of the highlights for this bracket. For groups with much older members or with smaller children, the beach might also be fun but with some limitations with regards to their safety when it comes to water activities and swimming. Many establishments have rules and regulations with regards to safety and age of their guests. The interests of the group or family seeking vacation spots should also be considered. Outdoorsy types will likely opt for camping and other adventurous pursuits while those who like to wallow in the lap of luxury will likely go for luxurious resorts and hotels that cater to their every whim and desire. There are also some people who have spotted a specific place to go to and have set their hearts to go there.

Ideal Family Places

There are plenty of vacation spots that are ideal for families in the United States of America. In Texas, there are several National Parks that allow campers to stay for several days. For this to happen, though, the campers will need to acquire permits and prove that they are actually capable of the feat. There are some places in Texas that have categories for their campers. This makes it easier for novices and more enjoyable for those who enjoy the wilds. Other than camping in National Parks in Texas, there are also several ranches that offer tours that encompass several days.

These tours let the city clickers enjoy real life on the range or just a stay in a ranch house for those who are not up to staying out. People of all ages are sure to find something that they like in the Texas tours. In Alaska, some tours also include a dogsled trip that will take the vacationers from one town to another, letting them enjoy the thrill and fun of navigating and controlling the dogs. Children can take advantage of tours that are not too long and stay warm every night at a resort or inn. These vacation spots are most unique when it comes to the level of enjoyment that they offer each member of the family. Even in the cities that are more sophisticated and less adventurous, there are also some places, which will offer enjoyment and fun for families. New York has tours that will show people their landmarks and places of note. In California, some tours offer a peek at the houses used for movies and even houses of celebrities.

Go on a UK Holiday During the Olympics

Living in London can be very busy generally, but the upcoming arrival of the Olympics is set to make moving around the city very difficult this summer. So whether you're a local or a holidaymaker from elsewhere in the UK, you'll know that London might not be the best place to go if you want a quiet holiday this year. However, there are lots of other places you can go this summer, and lots of them are right on your doorstep: they can be easily travelled to, because they are scattered across the UK.

The Olympics is obviously a significant cultural, political and cultural event, but there are other events that take place across the UK that are smaller, but no less important than the events in London this summer, such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, the Manchester Jazz Festival in July, the Liverpool Sound City Festival in August and the World Shakespeare Festival in Newcastle and Gateshead in June. So why not visit another city in the UK to experience something a little different this year? Depending on your location, there will of course be some travel involved in getting to another city, but if you plan your travel far in advance you shouldn't experience any significant delays.

With all the attention being centred on London this summer, you may actually find that the places you want to travel to, be they Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle or elsewhere may be a little quieter than usual, which will mean that they will be less busy, and you will probably be able to enjoy them a lot more, as you will be able to spend more time exploring a festival or another city, without worrying about certain venues being too busy.

So, with a few months to go, why not start looking at other cities in the UK that you might want to visit this summer? And why just stop at one city, when you could visit two or more over the course of a few weeks? If this is what you really want to do, then start looking at deals now, in order to beat the rush of other holidaymakers looking to avoid or get out of London for a few days, weeks or even longer. Start looking at travel options now, such as train tickets, plane tickets or the cost of hiring a car from a local car hire company, and think about what it is that you want to do. So if you want to avoid sport altogether, why not head up to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival for a bit of culture? Or if you feel like listening to some fantastic live jazz, then travel to Manchester for the Jazz Festival, or even, visit both festivals?

Wherever you decide to go this summer, it's vital that you book your accommodation before you leave the comfort of your own home, and if you are travelling to other destinations in the UK, why not book your hotel in Edinburgh, Manchester Piccadilly Hotel or Liverpool right now? Booking early will save you money, and will also leave you more time to organise your trip.

While London may be out of the picture this Summer, there are so many things that the UK has to offer a holidaymaker, so why not explore a part of the country that you've never been to before? It could be the best decision you make all year.

Harvey McEwan writes to offer information and advice on a variety of areas, from a Manchester Piccadilly Hotel to London and Birmingham. View Harvey's other articles to find out more.

One benefit is cost-efficiency. Our Top 5 Travel Gadgets

In today's modern "mobile" world of internet savvy travellers, packing for a trip abroad is no longer just about suntan lotion and a good book, it's all about the travel gadgets!

From iPads, iPods, and iPhones, to Kindles, portable DVD Players, and of course, cameras, it seems we are more concerned about packing the right electrical goods, than the right outfits as we head off on our summer holidays, and as a result, we now carry more gadgets ever before.

While I do like to check my emails while on holiday, my phone is the last thing I want to hear ringing as I sink into the sun lounger - but it seems I am one of few!

So, if you dread the thought of spending a 'whole week' without the fascinating world of Facebook, and the constant Tweets of Twitter, here are our Top 5 Travel Gadgets to keep you up-to-date, informed, and connected to cyberspace wherever you are in the world:

The iPad - Compact, convenient, and incredibly useful, the iPad is quite possibly the best mobile device available on the market today. It finds the closest WIFI connection in seconds, it's a camera, a movie player, it's a games console, and it's perfect for anyone who wants to stay connected abroad!

Apples Airport Express - If you have teenagers, there is a good possibility that the whole family will want to be connected to the internet while you are away. The airport express is a small multi-headed wireless hub that allows up to 10 users to surf the web at any one time, share photos, watch movies, and download music.

Canon PowerShot Camera - I know cameras are a very personal thing, and the PowerShot might not appeal to the professional photographers out there! However, anyone looking for a compact, easy to use camera that takes excellent photos every time should consider this 16 mega pixels pocket-sized Canon.

A Smartphone - mobile phones, much like cameras, are all down to personal choice, but if you arm yourself with a quad-band Smartphone you will be able to stay connected and pick up internet access in almost every country on the planet.

Universal Power Adapter Kit - there is no point taking any of the above travel gadgets with you unless you have power adapters suitable for the countries you are visiting!

It is nice to stay in touch when you are away - but if you really want to relax, unwind, and enjoy your holiday of a lifetime - switch off, and let the cyber world look after itself, while you get down to the more important business of ordering a cocktail on the beach!

What are you "must have's" when travelling?

Whether you're the outdoorsy, active type, the shopaholic or you just want to kick back and enjoy some brews and scenery, the 1000 Islands is a great vacation destination for everyone!

The 1000 Islands region was originally named by its natives as the "Garden of the Great Spirit." According to Native legend, the 1000 islands resulted when the Gods of Peace and Tranquility dropped some rocks into the river while they were preparing a place on Earth where all life would be perfect and peaceful. If you have ever visited the 1000 Islands, you can understand how this conclusion was drawn!

The 1000 Islands NY region is one of the only places where you can experience the wonders of a butterfly house, the excitement of a pirate battle, the majesty of a castle, the history of a museum, the freedom of a boat ride, the relaxation of a camp fire, the thrill of scuba diving, the solitude of a nature trail, the exhilaration of a balloon ride, the luck of a casino, the taste of homemade maple syrup, the green of a golf course, the company of an alligator, elk or buffalo, and so much more all at once!

With all that the 1000 Islands has to offer, there are few better ways to experience the 1000 Islands than on a boat with the wind on your face and a mist in the air! If you're the seafaring type, The Uncle Sam Boat Tours and Clayton Island Tours offer cruises touring the 1000 Islands NY area. The Clayton Island Tours travel between Clayton and Wellesley Island and offer specialty cruises like the Wine & Cheese Twilight Cruise, Two-Nation Tour. The Uncle Sam Boat Tours travel through the Alexandria Bay area and offers continuous Boldt Castle shuttles where tourists can visit Heart Island and explore the legendary Boldt Castle, always a family favorite! You can also enjoy luncheon and dinner cruises, the Singer Castle Tour, and other cruises offered by the over 85 year old Uncle Sam Boat Tours.

If you would like to plan your own boat tour, then take a ride on the 1000 Isle Lady, stationed at the Bonnie Castle Resort in Alexandria Bay. The 1000 Isle lady is a private yacht charter designed to carry up to 6 passengers, providing you with the freedom of planning your own tour! It will take you to places the typical cruise tour cannot, like island parks, restaurants on the river, lighthouses, even shipwrecks -anywhere your heart desires! Because of its small size, it can fit into places the larger boats cannot!

If you have your own boat, kayak, canoe or other water vehicle, the 1000 Islands NY area has many docks and amenities to accommodate you! Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Wellesley Island, Fishers Landing, Hammond, Chaumont, Sackets Harbor, Henderson Harbor, Cape Vincent, Three Mile Bay, and Fineview, NY all offer docks and amenities to accommodate you and your own boating adventures!

If you're looking for a unique vacation experience, consider a trip to the 1000 Islands! Take a horse-drawn ride through farm lands, watch a pirate ship battle, meet an alligator at the Aqua Zoo, walk through a butterfly house, discover and explore a shipwreck hidden at the bottom of the St. Lawrence River, spend the night in a castle, see exotic animals like buffalo and elk, sit around a camp fire, enjoy a night out on the town, get lost in a human maze, visit an island, enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, taste the finest wines, enjoy the most beautiful landscapes and more - all in the 1000 Islands NY Region! There are few vacation destinations that offer as many and as diverse activities as the 1000 Islands. http://www.1000islandsny.com/ has a lot of good vacation ideas if you're travelling to the 1000 Islands and planning to stay in NY. There's also a pretty good list of area parks and campgrounds.

So How Exactly Do Italians Stay Slim?

After travel, our next greatest passion in life is enjoying good food, and so our recent trips to Italy left us with not only wonderful memories, new travel ideas, and great holiday snaps, but it also left us with a whole lot more than an inch to pinch!

A country passionate about everything from the way they speak to each other (hands and all!), the way they dress (don't forget the sunglasses!), and the way they cook, the Italians certainly know how to live life to its fullest, and their Mediterranean style of cooking tickles the taste buds in all the right places.

From teeny tiny espresso's and sweet treats for breakfast, to pizza lunches, and pasta and salad evening menus, they really know how to create a delicious meal from simple ingredients, and that's before you even get started on the gelato!

As one of Europe's leading wine producers, Italy offers a fantastic selection of crisp dry whites, robust reds, and sweet Marsala wines to complement every mealtime, and those who prefer to stay alcohol free will enjoy the massive selection of coffee varieties and delicious fresh fruit juices.

Coffee is almost an institution in Italy, and the locals take it very seriously indeed. Espresso seems to be the coffee of choice by many, who will pop in to one of the street side cafes for less than a minute to get their caffeine boost of the day.

Ice-cream or Gelato, as it is fondly referred to by the locals, is serious business in Italy, and if you manage to pick just one flavour from the numerous varieties available, you will understand why Italians young and old enjoy munching away on this sweet treat as they take their evening stroll through the cobbled streets.

Rich, creamy, and delicious, Italian ice cream is not for those on a diet, but if you are only visiting this beautiful country on holiday - you simply should not resist!

Then we come to our "pièce de résistance" - Italian pizza! Hearty, tasty, and cooked to perfection, oven baked Italian pizza is worth the journey alone, and while it may have more calories than one should consume in an entire day - who cares, we are in Italy!

A country filled with beautiful scenery, friendly people, amazing wines, and the most delicious food on the planet- Italy has it all.

So that brings me back to my original question - how exactly do the Italians remain so slim?

Getting Married Abroad? - It's Fun, It's Romantic, and It's Easy When You Know How!

When you consider that the average cost of a wedding in the UK is said to be anywhere between £15,000 and £25,000, it is no surprise that more and more couples are ditching the traditional ceremony in favour of a wedding abroad.

An opportunity to combine your wedding day with the honeymoon of a lifetime, getting married abroad is far less stressful than getting married at home, what with seating plans, caterers, florists, and venues to organise, and providing you do your research and have all the necessary paperwork and licenses before you go, you can marry just about anywhere.

When it comes to planning your wedding abroad you have three options; organise it yourself, use a wedding planner experienced in overseas arrangements, or use a Tour Operator to tailor make a wedding/honeymoon package to suit your specific needs and requirements.

All of these options can work exceptionally well, and if you are good at sourcing local information, applying for licences, and making travel arrangements, you might enjoy organising everything yourself.

If you find paperwork a bore, it might be better to go with a tour operator that can organise everything from your flights and accommodation, to the wedding ceremony and reception, so all you have to do is turn up and say your "I do's".

Once you have decided who is going to plan your wedding, you can get down to the exciting part of choosing when and where it will take place. If you have a destination in mind, it is always a good idea to do some research and check out things such as the weather conditions for the month you wish to marry, local holidays/wedding seasons, and high-season travel periods, so there are no unpleasant surprises when you arrive.

When it comes to getting married abroad, the world really is your oyster! Favourite destinations include the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Mauritius, and the Maldives, as they each provide the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding ceremony.

However, there are numerous other options available, and those looking for something a little different might want to consider marrying on a game reserve in South Africa, on the sacred grounds of Ayres Rock in Australia or even while skydiving in New Zealand!

If you decide to do something out of the ordinary, it is always a good idea to contact the Foreign Embassy and confirm the legal and residential requirements to get married in that particular country. Most consulates will be able to provide you with a time-frame and list the steps you need to follow to marry legally in their country.

Then we come to the most famous wedding destination in the world - Las Vegas! From cheap and cheerful $100 ceremonies at the "drive-through", to $1,000,000 weddings at the Bellagio, everything is possible in Vegas, and you simply need to visit the Clark County Marriage Bureau with your passports to get your marriage license.

The great thing about marrying abroad is that the party lasts several days, your guests have the opportunity to combine your wedding celebrations with a holiday, and you get to marry the one you love surrounded by the people you love in a relaxed and beautiful environment - the perfect start to a perfect new life together!

Ghana Life: Ghana's Zoos in the 1970s

When one thinks of Africa one immediately calls to mind its spectacular wildlife, especially its large mammals. While the big five are mostly associated with eastern and central Africa some of them still roam in the less densely populated areas of forest and grassland of the West. The Cote d'Ivoire could not have got its name without elephants and these largest of all land animals feature prominently in the traditional oral literature of Ghana. Thus it was with some excitement that while resident in Kumasi in the 1970s one looked forward to visits to the zoos in Kumasi and in the capital, Accra.

The visit to Kumasi Zoo took place early in 1971 when Ghana was still relatively prosperous. Of course, people at that time complained about widespread poverty and a corrupt administration, but compared to what lay in store a few years later these were halcyon days under the democratic rule of Prime Minister Dr Kofi Busia. At least they could still afford to feed the animals. There were not too many to feed and what was there seemed to have been donated by zoos in other countries. Hurrying to the elephant enclosure one expected to see magnificent creatures from the African plains. The one lone specimen on display was magnificent enough but its ears were too small. It hailed from India, a gift of the Indian government.

Eager to find some local animals, a search began for something that came from Africa, and especially from Ghana. Memory has faded over more than forty years but the crocodiles are well remembered. Although they were described as of the variety associated with the River Nile, they were said to have been pulled from the waters of the Volta. The rather small specimens crowded into a congested pond were not nearly as impressive as the supposedly tame monsters that entertain tourists by emerging from the sacred pond at Paga on a call and the lure of a chicken. No doubt crocodiles are also partial to pigs, and the one truly local animal remembered from the visit to Kumasi Zoo in 1971 was a wild pig or boar said to be indigenous to the forests of Ashanti. In summary, Kumasi Zoo at that time could be described as a brave attempt to run a small provincial zoo on a limited budget in a young developing country.

The visit to Accra Zoo was made several years later when the economy had suffered the ravages of kalebule under the Acheampong military regime. The effect of the economic decline was such as to present a situation that left few people unmoved and filled animal lovers with despair. Perhaps the least said the better, but the mind cannot dispel the pitiable spectacles of a dead giraffe spread full length across its restricted enclosure and a male lion barely able to stand with large pleading eyes and skeletal frame. It was clear that at a time when every human being was hungry there was nothing to spare for the animals. If any resources were being allocated to the zoo, they were probably going to feed the keepers and their families. It was astonishing that the zoo remained open to the public in that condition.

Hopefully, the zoos of Ghana have improved since the 1970s. However, the modern visitor intent on a study of the local fauna is advised to head north to the Mole National Park where the wildlife has been protected over a wide area for several decades and there are reasonable prospects of seeing elephant and baboon free in their natural habitat. For those in search of a special thrill there is always the opportunity to travel to Ghana's extreme northern border and stroke the last of the dinosaurs on the banks of the sacred pond at Paga.

Valuable Safety Tips For An Air Trip

People have got to thank the Wright brothers for inventing the first ever aircraft in the world. Thanks to the airplane, people can now travel over thousands of miles in just a matter of hours. Air travel has become a preferred means of transportation for people, who like to travel all around the world. Be it for leisure or for any business trip, you need an air trip to reach your destination in a jiffy. However, before you actually sit back and enjoy a comfortable flight, you need to do some things which will make your journey a smooth and leisurely one.

Thanks to travel agencies and online flight booking companies, people have found it easier to book flight tickets from the Internet. When you are booking your flight reservations on the Internet, you will be submitting a lot of important information like your credit card details and so on. You need to be a bit careful here. The problem is that you may end up losing your crucial information to those, who intend foul play. So, before you register all your important information with such a website, you need to check if it will be safe and secure in the website or not.

If you happen to own a car, you would drive in it to the airport and park it in an airport parking basement. It is important that you remember to take a token from the caretakers when you will be parking your car in the basement. And when you return, you need to keep your token ready. Be sure not to keep any valuable items like jewels or expensive items in the car. There is a chance that they may get stolen. So, if you follow such tips, you will be able to enjoy your flight without any worry for the car.

It is quite customary for people to buy some things when they are already on the flight. The airlines would give passengers offers on new brands and designer labels. It is best if you carry a credit or debit card to buy these things. If you remove a large wad of cash, it only arouses the curiosity of the thieves who may be lurking around in the plane. So, be careful when you will be shopping for products during your air trip. If you are careful in regard to such things, your air trip will be adequately comfortable and enjoyable.

How to Enjoy Your Travel to the Fullest

Whether you'll be traveling for business or vacation, surely you can't wait to board that plane or ship and go away. But as much as you want to do that at the very instant, it is best spend some time to be prepared in order to fully enjoy the trip.

Yes, preparation reduces the stress and lessens the hassles of your travel. That's why it is very important to have ample time to prepare before the trip. And, to be sure that your preparation has covered everything you need, here's a little list to help you...

Book your flights and accommodations in advance.

Just like the saying "The early bird catches the worm," there are actually lots of advantages in booking early. Among them are package deals and promos that are being offered for a limited time only. For instance, some hotels and airlines provide early bird discounts. These promos allow travelers to save some money for their trip. If you're lucky to avail one, you'll have some extra cash to spare for shopping.

Research about your destination.

It may sound boring to do some research but by doing so, you're actually feeding yourself with ideas on how to spend your travel time. You'll know what to wear, drink, buy, and visit. By getting some information, you'll learn the best places to go to depending on what you want to do. Plus, researching will also help you avoid getting into trouble. Like for example, you don't want to get caught by a cop in Singapore just because you didn't know that chewing gum is not allowed in the country.

Pack first what you need and not what you want.

Undeniably, packing your things is one of the most anticipated and stressful activity before the travel. Actually, some people get into trouble because of things they packed and/or didn't pack. Maybe because too much excitement there are individuals that tend to pack too much stuff they don't really need that they tend to forget things that are of high importance.

First things first, be sure you have ALL the important documents you need for the trip, passport, visa, IDs and those papers you have to bring if you're in a business trip. Also, bring a first aid kit and some medicines. Remember, you're going in a different place and not all drugs are the same for all countries. It is advisable to bring your own stock especially if you have allergies and sensitive stomach.

Get a travel insurance.

You are not certain what will happen in your journey and so to avoid possible losses in unexpected circumstances, you should get travel insurance. If you are not familiar with one, there are travel agencies that usually offer it along in a travel package. Although, it is still better if you will get one that will truly compliment your needs.

To get help in purchasing one, consult the web. You can compare travel insurance online before you settle for one. In choosing a plan, you have to decide whether you'll get it for that trip only or you'll get one that's good to cover all your trips for a year. Keep in mind too that you should find a cheap travel insurance that would suit your budget.

Make a checklist.

After having everything prepared, it is best to have a list so you can go back and see to it that you didn't miss anything. Confirm your bookings. Have a map and some notes you've researched on your destination. Check the contents of your suitcase. Lastly, don't forget your travel insurance.

Now if you follow all these things before leaving, then there's no reason for you to worry. Just relax and enjoy every minute of your trip. After all, you've spent much time preparing for it.
